الحصول على حقوق التجارة من السلطان سعيد بن تيمور - رحمه الله. وكان الوقود يورد للسلطنة عبر القوارب التجارية، إذ يتم ربط البراميل بحبال وجعلها تطفو لليابسة حتى يتم دحرجتها على الشاطئ. وكانت جميع العمليات التجارية تتم من خلال وكلاء محليين.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوعندما وقعت شل عقداً مع شركة النفط - التي عرفت لاحقًا بشركة تنمية نفط عُمان - في عام 1958 لتزويدها بالوقود، تم اتخاذ قرار بناء مستودع في سيح المالح (المعروف حالياً بميناء الفحل). واشتمل ذلك المستودع على خزانين للبنزين والديزل، ومخزن للزيوت، ونقطة لتعبئة البراميل، ومكتب مخزن صغير ومنزل.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوقد تم افتتاح المستودع وشحن أول كمية من الوقود من سفينة “ديلمون” بواسطة خط أنابيب بحري إلى الساحل. وعند اكتمال العملية بنجاح، أقيم حفل التدشين في 12 ديسمبر 1958 احتفالًا بهذه المناسبة.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوفي عام 1962، بدأت شل عُمان ببيع وقود الطيران في المطار القديم ببيت الفلج حيث كان يعبأ في علب سعة 4 جالونات. وبعد افتتاح مطار السيب الدولي، أصبحت شل عُمان المورد الرئيسي لوقود الطيران وخدمات توريد الوقود والزيوت في جميع المطارات بالسلطنة.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eومع نهاية العقد الأول لشل في سلطنة عمان، وصل حجم المبيعات إلى 184,000 برميلٍ أي ما يمثل نسبة 15% من إجمالي إيرادات أعمال شركة أسواق شل (الشرق الأوسط) المحدودة التي أُسست في عام 1966 وكان مديرها العام يقيم في الدوحة (وقد استمر ذلك حتى عام 1982 حين تم تعيين أول مدير عام لشل مقيم في الحكومة في جنوب ريسوت مجاورًا للميناء الجديد ذي المياه العميقة. وكانت شل قد قامت بتصميم المستودع بحيث يمكن تعبئته حتى في ذروة أمطار موسم الخريف. ثم انتقلت عمليات شل من المستودع السابق بصلالة إلى استمرت الشركة في شراكتها الاستراتيجية مع الأطراف ذات العلاقة في القطاع العام، لا سيما سلاح الجو السلطاني العماني، إذ استمر قطاع شل للطيران في توريد الوقود لطائرات سلاح الجو السلطاني العماني.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوفي عام 1981، كان لدى شل حوالي 200 موظف يعملون في أنشطة شل لتسويق الوقود ومنتجاته في عُمان، وكان الكثير من هؤلاء الموظفين من المواطنين العمانيين الذين تم تعيينهم على مدى العشرين عاماً الماضية والذين قاموا بدور هام في تطوير عمليات التسويق، مساهمين في إضفاء طابعٍ عماني مميز وفريد إليها.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوقد أصبحت شل عُمان ركنًا رئيسيًا ضمن أنشطة شل التسويقية ككل في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وتقرر تعيين مدير عام لها مقيم في السلطنة، كما تم تعزيز نظام المؤسسة بتعيين مديري المبيعات والشؤون المالية وتعيين المزيد من الموظفين على المستويات القيادية في الشركة.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوتم كذلك تعزيز القدرات التدريبية لتمكين الشركة من تطوير مهارات موظفيها العمانيين بكل كفاءة والذين أصبحوا الآن يشكلون نسبة كبيرة من القوى العاملة في الشركة.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوفي شهر نوفمبر 1982، بدأ التشغيل الكامل للمصفاة الجديدة في عمان والمملوكة من قبل الحكومة، لتقوم بتزويد المنتجات النفطية المكررة لمستودع شل عُمان في ميناء الفحل مباشرة.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوفي العام ذاته، عقدت اتفاقية بين شل عُمان وشركاء محليين لإنشاء مصنع مزج الزيوت من أجل إنتاح الزيوت في السلطنة، حيث بدأ العمل على المصنع عام 1985 في ميناء الفحل، مع إنتاج اول دفعة من الزيوت عام 1986.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eيعزى نجاح مصنع الزيوت على مدى السنين إلى عاملين رئيسيين، الأول: كفاءة المصنع ومرونته لأنه صمم بالاستفادة من معارف خبراء مجموعة شل ومختصيها. والثاني: ارتباطه القوي بالعلامة التجارية لشركة شل والتركيبات العالمية مما يمكنه من بيع منتجاته من خلال شبكة التجزئة والأعمال التجارية وبواسطة تسهيلات التسويق المتوفرة لدى شل والتي مكنته من بيع تلك المنتجات عن طريق مجموعة شل خارج سلطنة عام 1996، أصبحت شل عُمان أول شركة تسويق وقود في السلطنة تقدم بطاقات الوقود لعملائها، الميزة التي جذبت الكثير من العملاء التجاريين لينضموا إلى محفظة عملائها.\u003Cbr\u003E\r\n\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوتم افتتاح أول محل Shell Select للتسوق السريع في الخوير يعمل على مدار الساعة في شهر سبتمبر 1996، ليكون بهذا أول محل تسوق سريع من نوعه في السلطنة. وقد تزايد عدد محلات Select بسرعة كبيرة في السنوات التالية ليصبح 55 محلاً تزود عملاءنا بتجربة تسوق سريعة ومريحة وفي بيئة نظيفة.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eوفي عام 1997، أصبحت شركة شل
