Shell Super Mileage Challenge 2014 concludes with an inspiring message

Shell Super Mileage Challenge 2014 concluded on March 29th with the winning team showcasing an impressive mileage. The team of Mundhir Al Minji and Mohammed Al Rawahi won the grand prize of Shell Fuel Cards for 2500 litres of Shell Super petrol each after achieving 14.71 kmpl in a 2 litre car.

The event was intended to assess the teams’ driving skills, with an emphasis on safe and fuel efficient driving. The 100 km plus,  two-stage challenge,  extended from Burj Al Sahwa Shell Service Station  to Oman Dive Centre near Qantab and back.

The route had been selected to mirror everyday city-driving conditions – and to demonstrate how simple changes to driving habits, along with the right fuel, can help to reduce fuel consumption and manage motoring costs.

Four competing teams were chosen on March 23, 2014, from over 100 teams who registered online.  The participants received general and defensive driving tips from a HSSE expert from Shell Oman.

Mohammed Al Balushi, Shell Oman Country Manager for Retail Sales and Operations, explained,  “At Shell Oman, we recognise that both fuel conservation and road safety are extremely relevant  to Oman now and more so in the future.   After all, safe and fuel efficient driving are two sides of the same coin and Shell Super Mileage Challenge promotes both.”

Shell Super is currently the only petrol in Oman that has a special additive formula which is designed to give extra kilometres at no extra cost to the customer.

Khamis Al-Siyabi Shell Oman HSSE Manager added, “We will certainly look at organising more safety and awareness-building activities during the year.”

AutoOman magazine officiated all aspects of the event and declared the results.
